Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)

Hyperhidrosis is caused by excessive sweating in areas of the body which contain eccrine glands. Hyperhidrosis can either be primary, in which, no know cause for the sweating occurs other than stress or anxiety or it can be secondary to either medications, medical conditions such as thyroid disease, cancer or neural disease. Primary idiopathic hyperhidrosis usually affects the underarms, palms, soles, and occasional scalp, forehead and groin area and is very bilateral and symmetric. Hyperhidrosis can severely disrupt daily activities and have large psychological impact.
