Dr. Cooper Wriston was born and grew up in Richmond, Virginia. As the son of an occupational therapist and organizational psychologist, he developed an early interest in health care. He graduated from the Mathematics and Science High School at Clover Hill in Midlothian, Virginia in 1999. He then started college at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, graduating in 2003 with a B.A. in Biology. Dr. Wriston graduated from medical school at Duke University in 2009. His post-graduate training includes a preliminary year in internal medicine at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and a dermatology residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Wriston’s clinical interests in medical dermatology include the treatment of psoriasis, photodermatoses, contact dermatitis, autoimmune and connective tissue skin diseases. Additionally, Dr. Wriston has interests in surgical dermatology, including the detection, evaluation, management and removal of skin cancers, including melanoma. Dr. Wriston enjoys seeing and treating patients of any age.
Outside of clinic, Dr. Wriston enjoys spending time with his family in Vermont at their camp on Lake Carmi. He also enjoys hiking and hopes to reach the highest peak (or point) in each state. Dr. Wriston enjoys many types of music, particularly jazz, and has recently started a fledgling vinyl collection. His favorite jazz pianist and composer is Thelonious Monk.
